Ken after surgery

We visited Ken this morning and again this afternoon. The am visit found him feeling better than we expected. He was able to sit in a chair and eat some jello. He had a sore throat from a tube they removed. He was having difficulty talking so we did the talking and he listened and nodded. His color looked good and we were pleased with the progress.

This afternoon we found him feeling lousy and his throat was so sore he could not talk at all. He had a note pad and scribbled notes to us. He was in the bed and asked to be put back in the chair as he felt better that way. He did improve after sitting in the chair and actually became a little
"ornery" He felt much better at 7 pm when his favorite nurse, Brenda, came in. God bless Brenda!
She made him feel much better. He ate some soup and drank some Boost and his throat (and attitude) improved greatly. That is it for today. We are very tired!

Hello King Family,
How wonderful to have the best medicine so nearby - and there's nothing like a mom to make it all better. Just to know Ken is ornery make us feel good.

Hope you all get some much needed healing rest tonight.

Godspeed Ken. - Carol and David

Ken -- great to hear that you are eating some food and sitting up. Keep resting and don't push too hard too quickly.

Ken's mom -- thanks for keeping the blog updated given everything you have to deal with, we've all been thinking about him...

Thanks Mary for the report. If he is a little ornery I am hopeful for his recovery :-)

Carol said it perfectly, and I have been keeping her updated as I was updated with phone calls from Mary the day of and the day after surgery. Thank you, Nana & Papa for taking good care of Ken. You are just what he needs right now. I know the daily back and forth and ever-present worry are taking a toll on you. If he's becoming crabby, then he's definitely getting back to normal! Hope he has a good day today.

Ken,

Just wanted to know we are thinking of you. Glad the surgeon finally fit you in between the flu and transplants. Heard you were ornery -- I guess that's good. It shows a fighting spirit.

Heal up and know you are in my thoughts and prayers.
