Better day today

We arrived early this morning to find Ken feeling better but very woozy from the sedatives. His pacemaker surgery went well. He now has a Boston Scientific pacemaker implanted under the skin with a wire to the heart so that he never has to experience a stoppage. If the heart fails to beat for more than two seconds it will kick in.

They want him to keep the arm on that side immobile for ten days to give the wires time to set in place. He has a "sling" for that arm. At first he said they made him wear a cast-like contraption that was very uncomfortable (invented by the nazis, according to Ken) but after he threw a "tantrum' they replaced it with the sling if he promised not to move his arm. (Oh, yes, he is feeling better!) He is unable to use his laptop in this condition so I am the deicated "blogger" for now. He was moved out of ICU about 4 this afternoon and most of the tubes and bandages were removed.

The only issue that is bugging him now is they administered a diruretic to clear his body of fluids to prevent swelling around the heart. The diruretic causes him to pee literally every 5 minutes. He has let everyone know how stupid that was since he was going fine on his own. Talk about pissin' and moanin'!!!!

He should be coming home in two or three days. Pray for me.

Mary

Mary, I will, indeed, shift some of the focus of my prayers to you since you soon will be the one having to deal with the old buzzard when he comes home :-)

Ken, continued best wishes for a speedy recovery and we look forward to your return to the office.

Likewise, Mary. But just fuss at him once in a while, he'll get the message.

Ken, glad you're out and about. And if that bionic heart gizmo can keep ornery ol' Dick Cheney alive, you won't be much of a challenge at all.

Take care and God bless.

Bill

Hi Mary, thank you for the blog updates. Please tell Ken his cronies in Product Marketing miss him, hope he'll be out of the hospital soon, and look forward to his return to T-5 before very long. Sure hope this new week is more uneventful for your family than the last one--just peaceful moments and continued improvement. You remain in our thoughts and prayers.

Good earth! I have been out for a few days and am just now catching up on Ken's eventful week. Can't you do anything the SIMPLE way, Ken?!?

Mary, keep us posted on progress. I look forward to giving Ken a hard time about "pissing and moaning" when he gets back here.

Ken,
Glad your out of surgery again and recovering. Just think - with a pace maker, next time you travel, you can skip the line for the metal detectors and go straight to the strip search -- I mean wand scan... Keep peeing... I mean trucking...

Ken, Lord have mercy you have been through it. I am so glad to read all is going well though. I have enjoyed reading everything and it's funny how reading something this serious makes you start laughing. You are the comedian and definitely have a "way with words"... I have learned more about you which is good. I hope you continue to improve. And LOVE THAT MAMA....what would we do without WONDERFUL MAMA's.

And BTW, I don't think you need any mulch this year unless that wonderful mama wants to come and put it out and I doubt that.

Take care and my prayers are with you all.
